Last night, a concert of the Children's and Youth Choir of the Serbian Singing Society "Jedinstvo" (1839) Kotor was held at the crowded St. Luke's Square in the Old Town, which confirmed once again that our ensemble should not worry about its future even in the jubilee year.

The audience enjoyed various interpretations of secular and spiritual music, but certainly also the beauty and spontaneity of our "little angels", as conductor Mrs. Ivana Krivokapić called them.

The Mandolin Orchestra conducted by Petar Bukilica, a member of the "Jedinstva" management, also performed.

Welcoming the audience, which included the president of Kotor Municipal Council Maja Mršulja, and on the occasion of 185 years of work and existence of SPD "Jedinstvo", Bukilica said that all concerts and events in 2024 are part of the celebration of this significant jubilee.

"Likewise, this evening's concert, which we traditionally present to the city of Kotor, with an adapted repertoire of secular and spiritual music, is receptive to all our guests, who are many at this time of the year." In this way, we enrich the tourist offer of the city. This concert is realized less than a month after the choir festival "U jedinstvu pejesmo srku", and we have planned quite a number of activities until the end of the year. Certainly the crown of everything will be the ceremonial academy on the occasion of 185 years of "Unity" at the end of September and after that the performance of a grandiose work "Liturgy of Domesticity" by Aleksandr Grečaninov, opus 79, with choir, soloists, chamber orchestra... A very serious project which, as neither would all the others, it would not have been possible to realize it if we did not have the help of our sponsors", said Bukilica, thanking the Municipality of Kotor, the Tourism Organization of Kotor, the Serbian Orthodox Church Municipality of Kotor, the School for Primary and Secondary Music Education "Vida Matjan", as well as to all people who help the work of Unity.

The conductor of the children's and youth choir, Ms. Ivana Krivokapić, thanked the large audience, which rewarded the efforts of the young people with applause as a guarantee for the bright future of SPD Jedinstvo.

A big thank you to the little angels who regularly came to the rehearsals, and a special thank you to this youth who, in addition to their many obligations, because almost everyone works and doesn't have a lot of free time, put in a lot of effort and contributed to everything tonight being as it should be," she said. The repertoire of the Children's Choir included the following songs: Quiet Nights (Jovan Jovanović Zmaj), Maestral (Ivica Stamac, Milenko Milanković), Friendship (Dragan Laković), Čuvajmo djeci proljeća (Osvajači).

The youth choir sang: Orahovac bašto rajska (Gavrilo Kujundžić), Suza Kosova (Željko Samardžić Panonac), Biljana platno beleše (Macedonian folk song), Dve liri (Karolina Gočeva), Rjabinushka (Russian folk song), Konj (Russian folk song) , We will sing what our heart knows (Amira Medunjanin), Strose to stroma (Mikis Theodorakis), Nane Coka (gypsy folk song). At the end, a collection of songs from the former Yugoslavia was performed, arranged by Ana Mihaljević and Petar Bukilica, as well as the song Samo da rata ne bude (Đorđe Balašević).
