Bećković: The Serbian people are poetic, they live in their mouths and all their possessions are there
Serbian poet and academician Matija Bećković pointed out that the Serbian people are poetic, that they live in their mouths and that all their possessions are there.
- Every real song is love, patriotic and thoughtful. If it's not that, it's not a song either. And it is good that this division has been abolished. In my time, that's how poetry was classified and impoverished at school - said Bećković for Nezavisne novine.
Bećković assessed that in some way the entire readership got tired of fiction and fantasy and wanted truth and reality, and that it is no wonder that memoirs, biographies, testimonies and bequests are now popular.
- There is another phenomenon, I had the opportunity to see writers who, when they write something real and true, become illiterate, and when they start lying and inventing, not only do they have as much imagination and ideas as you want, but they also become literate. It really is a phenomenon. Lying and inventing becomes something easy, even in writing - added Bećković.
For "Ćerandum", as an allusion to the memorandum of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Bećković says that it has become the main answer to all questions.
He stated that he had not even read it, nor was it adopted, nor would it be adopted, but those who declared it the main culprit for the breakup of Yugoslavia, they titled it, stole it, published it.
- The Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts should only condemn that barbaric act, when that document was stolen from the Academy, and instead the same story was extended and talked about a document that does not exist, was never completed, nor would it ever be adopted - said Bećković.
He assessed that it is a trick that lasts for easier memory, so that people don't bother and think about how and why everything happened.
Speaking about the monograph that was published less than two years ago when the 100th anniversary of the birth of Duško Radović was marked, Bećković said that the Serbs did not have such a work, nor such a writer as Radović, who left so many years ago, and has never been dead.
For his autobiographical prose work "Mother Zorka", Bećković said that his mother left this world forty years ago, and that she wrote her biography much earlier.
- I only looked into that notebook of hers these years and could only write an afterword - added Bećković.
Bećković said that his book "Načertanije" is an extension of his song "Ceraćemo se josh", and "Cerajemo se still" is a continuation of "Načertanije", which, as he stated, is talked about so much, but no one has ever seen it.
Bećković is the winner of the Kočić Award for this year, which will be presented to him at the ceremonial academy of the 59th Kočić Choir on Saturday, August 24, at 8:00 p.m. in the National Theater of the Republic of Srpska.
