Calendar for April 1 Venerable Simeon of Dajbaba

He was born in Cetinje in 1854. At baptism, he was given the name Savo. After completing primary school in his hometown, he continued his education at the Kiev Theological Seminary, and then at the Theological Academy there, inspired by the exploits of the venerable fathers of the Kiev Lavra. In Kiev, he was tonsured a monk and ordained a hieromonk. He returned to Montenegro in 1888, where he was first appointed to the Vranjina Monastery, and a year later to the Ostrog Monastery, where he was also a lecturer at the Monastic School. After a miraculous vision, at the end of the 19th century he began the construction of a church on the site where the Dajbaba Monastery is now located. He spent the rest of his life there. He reposed in the Lord on April 1, 1941. His relics are in the monastery of Dajbaba.
