Calendar for April 6 - Saint Artemon – (Pre-holiday of the Annunciation)
Born and raised in Seleucia Pisidia, in Asia Minor. He lived in the time of the holy apostles. When the apostle Paul came to that city, preaching the word of God, he noticed Artemon jumping among his fellow citizens with good deeds and he confirmed him even more in the faith of Christ. Then he appointed him, filled with divine wisdom, as a shepherd and teacher to the inhabitants of Seleucia, consecrating him as their first bishop. Artemon lovingly and zealously governed the literal flock of Christ, setting himself up as a port of salvation for everyone and a miracle-working healer of their souls and bodies. He took care of orphans, widows and nothing. Having lived his earthly life wisely and pleasing to God, he moved to eternity at a very old age.
Venerable Jacob the Confessor. Martyr Parthenius, Patriarch of Constantinople. Memorial miracle in the Pechersk monastery. Venerable Zacharias. Easter fast.
