Calendar for December 3 Venerable Gregory the Decapolis
Born in Irinopolis, in the Decapolis of Isauria, in the south of Asia Minor, to famous and pious parents, Sergius and Martha. When he was 8 years old, he was sent to school, where he studied the Holy Scriptures well. And when he came of age, his parents wanted to marry him, but he fled to the desert and became a monk. He lived in several places: in Byzantium, Rome, on Olympus in Asia Minor… Wherever he was, he would amaze people with his exploits and miracles. And wherever he was, he showed himself to be a zealous fighter for the veneration of holy icons. Angels of God appeared to him, he looked at their beauty and sweet singing. It happened that heavenly light shone on him. He lived a long and God-pleasing life. He gave up his soul to the Lord peacefully in the 9th century, in Constantinople.
Saint Proclus, Patriarch of Constantinople. Holy Martyrs Eustathius, Thespesius, and Anatoly. Saint Isaac, Archbishop of Armenia. The Three Holy Virgins. The Feast of the Presentation of the Most Holy Theotokos. Christmas Fast.
