Calendar for June 19 - Venerable Visarion
Born and raised in Egypt. He devoted himself to spiritual life early on and "does not stain the spiritual garment in which he is clothed with holy baptism". He visited Saint Gerasimos on the Jordan, and he listened to Saint Isidore Pelusiotus. He conquered his body with great fasting and vigil, but he hid his feat from people as much as possible. Once he stood praying for forty days without eating or sleeping. He wore one dress both in summer and winter. He had a great gift of miracles. He did not have a permanent place of residence, but lived in the mountains and forests until he was very old. He healed the sick and performed many other miracles for the benefit of people and for the glory of God. He passed away peacefully in 466.
Venerable Hilarion the New. Venerable martyrs Archelaus, Thecla and Susanna.
