Calendar for March 30 - Saint Alexius the Man of God
During the time of Emperor Honorius, a high imperial dignitary Euthymian, rich and respected, lived in Rome. He lived happily with his wife Aglaida. They had an only son, Aleksey. When they married him, he left his wife and parents and went to Edessa in Mesopotamia. He lived there as a beggar for 17 years. When word got out, they fled to Laodicea, but the ship would be swept all the way to Rome. Alexius went to his father, who did not know him. There, in a cellar, abused by servants, they lived for another 17 years. He died in 411. Then in the church of the Holy Apostles, in the presence of the emperor and the patriarch, a voice was heard: "Look for the Man of God." And they found him, bright in the face, with a note in his hand, from which they saw that he was the son of Yevtimian. Myrrh flowed from his body.
Holy Martyr Marin. Easter fast.
