Calendar for October 27 Venerable Mother Paraskeva
Born in the town of Epivat, between Silinavrija and Constantinople, of Serbian origin. Her parents were wealthy and pious. In addition to her, they also had a son, Yevtimius, who later became the famous bishop of Maditski. After the death of her parents, the virgin Petka, eager for asceticism for the sake of Christ, went to Constantinople, then to the Jordan desert, where she lived as an ascetic until old age. Then an angel of God appeared to her and told her to return to her homeland. She lived in Epivat for two more years, in constant fasting and prayer, and then she gave her soul to the Lord. She died in the 11th century. Her miraculous relics were transferred to Constantinople, then to Trnovo, then again to Constantinople, and then to Belgrade. They are now in Romania, in the city of Iași. In Belgrade, there is the miraculous water of St. Petka.
Holy Martyrs Nazarius, Gervasius and Protasius.
