European Music Day celebrated in schools
Every year, on March 15, the European Day of Music in Schools is celebrated. This recent holiday celebrating music in schools provides another opportunity to talk about it more.
On this very occasion, the guest of Radio Svetigora was deacon Mihailo Lazarević, conductor of the choir of the Serbian Singing Society "Jedinstvo" (1839) "from Kotor and director of the Ju School for Elementary and Secondary Music Education "Vida Matjan" from Kotor.
"It is not out of place to dedicate more days of the year to music and to be more present in people's lives, and to bring messages of peace, tolerance and love." To bring educational messages to everyone who is actively and passively engaged in music, because music is certainly an integral part of our lives, whether we like it or not. Attention should be drawn to quality music, especially on the day of the music festival", says deacon Mihailo.
Mentioning the musical fairy tales, which were in the KIC "Budo Tomović" program this month, and which represent the repertoire of secondary music schools from Nikšić "Dara Čokorilo" and Podgorica "Vasa Pavić", he says that these are very significant musical endeavors that make him a musician are very happy, and that they represent the continuation of the tradition of performing operas for children, which was started in Kotor in the sixties of the last century, by the founder of the Kotor music school, Vida Matjan.
"It's not strange that it's happening in Montenegro. We are just returning to some traditions and values that existed in our country. Those musical fairy tales were also written and performed by our creators, at one time in the 1960s, the founder of our school, after which it is named - Vida Matjan, wrote musical fairy tales for the students of the then music school in Kotor. That musical fairy tale was called Sleepless Forest Night. She also composed the children's opera The Fisherman and the Little Fish.
Deacon Mihailo announces that in autumn and winter the music school from Kotor will also have the opportunity to present the opera "Sleepless Forest Night" to the audience, which will be co-produced with the Music Academy in Cetinje, and in that way revive the work of Vida Matjan, whose name is wearing.
