Five years since the repose of Father Momčilo Krivokapić

On this day, April 29, 2020, Archpriest-Staurophorus Momčilo Krivokapić, the archiepiscopal vicar of the Bay of Kotor, reposed in the Lord. Just a year earlier, Father Momo celebrated five decades of priestly service, which he performed in Kotor from the first day of his ordination as a deacon, and then as a priest, with dedication and devotion until his last breath.
He was born on July 1, 1945 in Herceg Novi. He graduated from the St. Sava Theological Seminary in Belgrade, and later from the Faculty of Theology. He was ordained a deacon on August 31, 1969, and a priest on October 9 of the same year, on the feast of St. John the Theologian, a saint whom he loved very much.
On the day of Father Momo's funeral, the late Metropolitan Amfilohije said that Father Momo was a witness to Christ God, the giver of eternal and imperishable life.
– He was so from his youth, from his childhood, following in the footsteps of his suffering father Risto, who, after the murder of Metropolitan Joanikije and over 120 of the best priests, was exiled, together with other priests from Montenegro, and was accepted in Doboj in Bosnia. He was a priest there and Father Momo grew up there. Father Momo was one of the first who, after the great suffering of the Church of God in Montenegro, came to Kotor as a young man, at the invitation of Father Bogoboj. And God granted him the honor of serving God and his people here for over fifty years. And he offered himself and his home church, and many other souls to the Lord as a gift. And passing from this transient mortal life, he gained that eternal and imperishable life, the Kingdom of Heaven, which he served his entire life as a confessor of the true and genuine faith of Christ. His bright example and his testimony will remain alive and life-giving. And his image, not only in Kotor but in our entire Serbian Orthodox Church and in the entire Orthodoxy.
Father Momo was also a tireless confessor and a reminder to every Serb that: "The Kosovo covenant is deeply engraved in the heart of each of us."
- We are of the Kosovo commitment. All power is temporary, but God's is eternal. Other nations may come to Kosovo, but they will leave it in shame. And we will be shameful if we betray Kosovo. Let there be three of us there, but our holy places are there. Holy King Stefan of Decan and Saint Joanikije of the Virgin protect us. There is Gračanica and the Church of the Virgin Mary of Ljeviška… Oh my God, what beauty! If only there was nothing else, not only the Serbian people but the whole of Europe, to show the world Dečani, Gračanica, Ljeviška, “they would have it as soon as they came out before Miloš”, as our people say. Our identity is outlined and exists in Kosovo and Metohija. We do not exist without Kosovo. Kosovo is our identity. The Kosovo vow is deeply engraved in the heart of each of us. It is the soul of the Serbian soul - said Father Momo. Eternal memory and the Kingdom of Heaven, dear Father Momo!
