Metropolitan Joanikije of Montenegro and the Littoral received the Deputy Prime Minister Momo Koprivica
On Wednesday, March 13, in the Metropolis of Cetinje, His Eminence the Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral, Mr. Joanikije, received the Vice President of the Government of Montenegro, Momo Koprivica.
During the meeting, it was assessed that the relations between the state and the Church rest on mutual respect, understanding and cooperation, and that there is significant scope for additional and concrete cooperation in the social, humanitarian, health and cultural spheres, based on the awareness of common and general interest.
It was established that caring for people must be in the center of attention of both the Church and the state, and that harmony, overcoming misunderstandings and working together are a condition for the progress of any society. That is why it is important to find quality solutions in all spheres in peace and goodwill so that our society can be a society tailored to each person.
Metropolitan Joanikije expressed his gratitude to Vice President Koprivica, who, in his opinion, recognizes the historical role of faith in Montenegro and the spiritual potential that the Church possesses, and can make an additional contribution in caring for vulnerable categories of society, as well as for our nation as a whole.
Koprivica pointed out that the Government of Montenegro, dedicated to reforming the system and the rule of law, strengthening the socio-economic position of citizens, speeding up the European path, attaches great importance to a sincere attitude towards churches and religious communities and respect for their rights, based on constitutional principles. Emphasizing full respect for its historical foundation in the being of Montenegro, he affirmed numerous socially responsible activities of the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral.
Among other things, the possibilities for the state and the Church to have a partnership relationship in a number of socially sensitive spheres, such as the treatment of addictions, and the provision of state support for the realization of the Church's right to build and establish social and charitable institutions, such as homes for the elderly and shelters, were jointly considered. with spiritual care and nurturing.
