Patriarch Porfirije spoke with church media representatives from Russia

His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Mr. On November 5, 2024, Porfirje spoke at the Patriarchal Palace in Belgrade with Mr. Vakhtang Kipshidze, Deputy President of the Synodal Department for Public Relations and Media of the Moscow Patriarchate, and Mr. Alexey Sokolov, editor-in-chief of the church magazine Toma.

The guests introduced His Holiness the Patriarch to the organization of the media and information activities of the Russian Orthodox Church, especially emphasizing the importance of the transition from traditional media, such as print editions and television, to new internet platforms and social media.

The interlocutors exchanged their experiences and knowledge about the development of the Church's mission, expressing their desire and hope for further expansion of cooperation.

The guests introduced the leader of the Serbian Orthodox Church to the history of the magazine Toma, founded in 1996. The largest Orthodox publication in Russia deals with the topic of the Orthodox faith and the Church in the life of modern man and society. 45 collaborators from many parts of the world participate in the preparation of the magazine, which is published monthly in a circulation of 25,000 copies and is distributed in the temples of the Russian Orthodox Church. What particularly pleases the publisher is the fact that on a monthly basis, the pages of Tom on the Internet are visited by up to 15 million readers.

The reception was attended by: archpriest Đorđe Stojisavljević, head of the Cabinet of the Serbian Patriarch; Mr. Dušan Stokanović, manager of the Information and Publishing Institution of the Serbian Orthodox Church; Mrs. Marija Markin, representative of Toma magazine in Serbia; Mr. Sergej Stamat, associate of Toma magazine, Ms. Olivera Jovanović, editor-in-chief of Pravoslavlja, newspaper of the Serbian Patriarchate; Mr. Miljan Nikitović, official of the Cabinet of the Serbian Patriarch.
