Patriarch Porphyry: Death is solitude, and life is in communion with Christ
His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Mr. On November 10, 2024, Porfirje celebrated the Holy Liturgy in the Church of Saint Sava in Vračar. The Holy Liturgy was translated into sign language for the present believers with hearing and speech impairments from the City Organization of the Deaf in Belgrade.
- Love as the essence, as the essence of what we are and what the whole world is, confirms that we have a creative urge in us, a construction urge in us, a tendency towards creativity, towards building and improving everything, especially ourselves and our relationships with those to whom we are directed . Love confirms and shows that we have a hunger for duration, and not a duration that is limited by time and space, but a duration that breaks through and breaks the boundaries of time and space. We have within us a deep need for eternal duration, and that is nothing but eternal life. Eternal life in community in the arms of those, not only whom we care about, but whom we truly love and who give meaning to our life - Patriarch Porfirius preached and emphasized:
- Christ is the source of meaning, He is love in himself and therefore He is the source of love. Hence, everything that we have as the world around us and the world within us, exclusively and only if it is connected to life, to the source of life, to Christ, receives the force of life, the force not only of duration as being and existence, but the force of life as experience and reality of love and community, the experience of an embrace with Christ through which we embrace each other and embrace the whole world. In that embrace in which He exists as the eternal God, we also exist in Him and with Him. There, of course, the key link that binds us to Christ is our faith, faith that is dead without works, faith that turns into love, faith that is complete surrender and trust in Jesus Christ, the Son of God and our Savior.
His Holiness Patriarch Porphyry was served by the Reverend vicar bishops: Stephen from Remesia, Petar from Toplice, Nikon from Jenopole and Tikhon from Moravia; clergy and deacons with the prayerful participation of many faithful people.
