PETROVDAN IN KOTOR - FATHER NEMANJA KRIVOKAPIĆ: THE APOSTLES FOUNDATION OF THE CHURCH

On the occasion of the feast of Saints Peter and Paul (Petrovdan), holy liturgies were served in the Kotor churches of St. Luke and St. Nicholas in the Old Town and St. Peter Cetinjski in Prčanje, with the communion of numerous believers.

In his address at the Holy Liturgy in the Church of St. Nikole, archpriest of Kotor-Tivat, parish priest of Kotor, archpriest Nemanja Krivokapić said that the apostles are the foundation and foundation of the Church.

"Relatively, we almost celebrated Pentecost, the day when the Church was created, and today we celebrate its foundations, those who founded that Church."

In the Creed, which we read at every liturgy, when we talk about the Church, we say that it is one, holy, conciliar and apostolic.

The characteristic of the Church is that it is apostolic", said Fr. Nemanja, reminding that the Church was founded by God himself, as well as that Jesus Christ is the One who preached and said what and how we should do in order to be saved and by his example that and showed.

The apostles, he continues, were also direct witnesses of everything Christ said and did, as well as witnesses of His miracles and most importantly at the Last Supper when He instituted the Holy Sacrament of Communion.

"The apostles spread God's word throughout the world, the entire universe, making sure that what Christ said and did was not forgotten. Some of them, four of them, also wrote the Gospels. They wrote down the words so that we have them to this day, so that we know exactly what and how the Lord said," said Fr. Nemanja.

As he continues, the apostle Paul stood out in particular in spreading the word of God with his three missionary journeys, described in the Acts of the Apostles and the Epistles.

"Apostle Paul wrote 14 Epistles, very important works, which practically tell how we Christians should live. These are universal and very important messages for all Christians. Apostle Paul repeatedly emphasizes that he is speaking what Christ left to them," said Fr. Nemanja, adding that the apostles were not just mere witnesses of what Christ spoke about, because there were others who heard it, but they were people on whom the Holy Spirit descended on Pentecost, when the Church was born.

The apostles then received God's grace to not only preach, but also to perform the Holy Mysteries, such as the Holy Sacrament of Communion.

"The holy secrets were passed on by the apostles to the bishops, and they continue to this day to the priests." Today's bishops and priests also receive the same grace that the apostles received on Pentecost, that they could perform the Holy Mysteries. That is the apostolic primacy - an unbroken series of graces that is transmitted from Christ, from the Holy Spirit to the apostles and to this day to priests. It is important to convey that we receive communion as the Lord God commanded us," said Fr. Nemanja.

He points out that it is very important to profess the true faith and that it is not enough to just be a good person.

"That's why we read the Symbol of Faith at every liturgy because it is the essence and essence of our belief. With this, at every liturgy, we establish ourselves in the true faith, and the true faith is what we hear and what the apostle Peter confessed that Christ is the true righteous God, that he came to save us. That's why Christ praises him when he confessed," said Fr. Decrease.

He concluded that this is the faith professed by the apostle Peter, which we also profess, remembering the events today and celebrating the holy apostles.

"May the Lord God, through the prayers of the holy apostles, confirm us in that faith which was confirmed by the apostles and which saves, amen", said Father Nemanja.

The Second Epistle of the Holy Apostle Paul to the Corinthians, began in 193 (11:21-30; 12:1-9)

21. I speak shamefully, as if we had become powerless. But what does anyone dare to do, I'm talking about folly, and I dare. 22. Are they Jews? Me too. Are they Israelis? Me too. Are they the seed of Abraham? Me too. 23. Are they servants of Christ? As a fool I speak, I am even more: I have worked harder, endured too many colors, been in prison more than once, often in mortal danger; 24. I received from the Jews five times forty minus one blow, 25. I was whipped three times, stoned once, suffered three shipwrecks, spent night and day on the open sea; 26. I often traveled, was in danger on the rivers, in danger from robbers, in danger from my kindred, in danger from the Gentiles, in danger in the city, in danger in the desert, in danger at sea, in danger among false brothers; 27. in labor and effort, often in sleeplessness, in hunger and thirst, often in fasting, in winter and nakedness; 28. in addition to everything else, the daily pressure of people on me, concern for all the Churches. 29. Who gets weak without me getting weak? Who seduces himself, and I don't burn. 30. If I should boast, I will boast of my weaknesses.

1. It is of no use to me to boast, because I will come to the visions and revelations of the Lord. 2. I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago - whether in the body, I don't know, whether outside the body, I don't know, God knows - would have been taken to the third heaven. 3. And I know that that man - whether in the body, whether outside the body, I don't know, God knows - 4. would be taken to heaven and would hear unspoken words that man is not allowed to speak. 5. I will boast of such, and I will not boast of myself, unless of my weaknesses. 6. Because even if I wanted to boast, I would not be foolish, because I would tell the truth; but I refrain, lest anyone should think of me more than what he sees in me, or hears from me. 7. And so that I would not be proud because of the multitude of revelations, a sting was given to me in the flesh, the angel of Satan, to make me wicked, so that I would not be proud. 8. I begged the Lord three times for him to depart from me; 9. And he said to me: "My grace is enough for you; for my power is made perfect in weakness." That is why I will prefer to brag about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

The Holy Gospel of Matthew, began in 67 (16,13-19)

13. And when Jesus came to the regions of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying: "What do people say about me, who is the Son of Man?" 14. And they said: "Some say that you are John the Baptist, others that you are Elijah, others again Jeremiah, or one of the prophets." 15. Jesus said to them: "And who do you say I am?" 16. And Simon Peter answered and said: "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." 17. And Jesus answered and said to him: "Blessed are you, Simon, son of Jonah!" For flesh and blood did not reveal it to you, but my Father who is in heaven. 18. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on that rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. 19. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven; and what you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."
