SAINT NICHOLAS, THE PATRON OF CHILDREN, SEAMEN AND TRAVELERS, LITURGICALLY CELEBRATED IN KOTOR

Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, Archbishop of Myra, was liturgically celebrated today in the church of the same name in the Old Town of Kotor.
Numerous believers received communion, and in the continuation of the Liturgy, which was served with the clergy by the hierarchal governor of Kotor-Tivat, the parish priest of Kotor, Archpriest Stavrophor Nemanja Krivokapić, the consecration of the slava koljiv and slava kolachi was performed, which numerous Kotor families traditionally brought to the Church of Saint Nicholas.
A protector of the truth of God, this wonderful saint was always a courageous protector of justice among people.
During the persecution of Christians under Diocletian and Maximian, he was thrown into prison, but even in prison he taught people the law of God. He attended the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea, and, out of great zeal for the truth, struck the heretic Arius with his hand. For this act, he was removed from the Council and from the episcopal service until the Lord Christ Himself and the Most Holy Theotokos appeared to several of the first bishops at the Council and announced Their favor towards Nicholas.
He was merciful, just, and while still alive he was considered holy.
He reposed in the Lord in the year 343.
