SAVINDAN TRADITIONALLY CELEBRATED IN KOTOR
Savindan is traditionally celebrated in Kotor today, the glory of the Serbian Singing Society Jedinstvo (1839) Kotor.
After the Holy Liturgy and the cutting of the slavic cake, in front of the Church of Saint Nicholas in the Old Town, the City Music of Kotor performed the hymn to Saint Sava, and then the Archpriest of Kotor-Tivat, Archpriest Stavrophor Nemanja Krivokapić, spoke.
"In the troparion Saint Sava, which was sung, we are called children, children of Saint Sava, which is a huge blessing. Before the throne of the Most High, Saint Sava prays to God for all those who respect him, and not only those who respect him, but those who, above all, follow the path he paved - the path of peace, love and harmony. That is why he is great, that is why he is a saint, because he lived and preached on those ideas. That is how we Kotorans can say that we are both children of Saint Tryphon, because he became a saint in exactly the same way, because he respected exactly those postulates. Being a child of Saint Sava and Saint Tryphon is not only a great honor, but also a great responsibility, because it means following the path that they paved", said Krivokapić.
He adds, that is exactly what we are doing today when we celebrate these two saints, when we sing to them and remember their lives and what they preached.
"We who are in this square celebrate Saint Sava and our brothers who celebrate Saint Tryphon in the square in front of the cathedral, our city music that greets both holidays in both squares and thus again becomes that buckle that joins two holidays into one big universal holiday. With that, we can boast that the words we sang now in these hymns are not just empty words, but that we really live them. Those words are "May we all live in harmony, Saint Savo help you," said Krivokapić.
The program of the celebration was attended by the youth of the Serbian Singing Society "Jedinstvo" with the conductor Ivana Krivokapić.
After the ceremony in front of the temple of St. Nicholas, the City Music together with the citizens welcomed the beginning of the Tripundan festivities.
The ceremony was also attended by the president of the SO Kotor Maja Mršulja, as well as a detachment of the Boke Navy.
ACCORDING TO THE PROGRAM, Vespers and Children's Academy in the Church of St. Peter Cetinjski in Prčanje, and at 18 the Academy's Children's Holy Week in the Church of St. Nicholas in the Old Town.
