At the invitation of His Eminence Archbishop Gerasim of Gornja Karlovac, His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije, together with members of the Holy Synod of Bishops, visited the Diocese of Gornja Karlovac and the city of Rijeka.
On the first day of the visit, December 8, 2024, in the building of the Church Municipality in Rijeka, sessions of the Holy Synod of Bishops and the Patriarchal Administrative Board were held, under the presidency of His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije and with the participation of members of these church-administrative bodies, His Eminences: Bishop Ignatius of Braničevo, Bishop Photius of Zvornik-Tuzla, Bishop Teodosij of Raska-Prizren and Bishop Gerasim of Gornja Karlovac. The sessions were also attended by the Venerable Archimandrites Nektarije, the Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod of Bishops, and Danilo, the Director of the Patriarchal Administrative Office.
On the occasion of this historic event for the Orthodox community in Rijeka, a memorial plaque was placed in front of the Church of St. Nicholas of Myra with information about the visit of His Holiness Porfirio and members of the Holy Synod of Bishops.
Tonight, starting at 5 p.m., a solemn act of doxology will be served in honor of His Holiness the Patriarch of Serbia, Porfirio. Tomorrow, on St. Nicholas Day, the day of the temple's glory, Patriarch Porfirio will serve the Holy Liturgy starting at 9 a.m.
