The first Holy Bishop's Liturgy on the island of Vido

The Most Reverend Archimandrite Methodius was on the island of Corfu as part of the "Days of Serbia in Corfu" event on May 25 and 26, 2024, organized by the Orthodox Sports Association "Holy Serbia" and the Corfu Society of Greek-Serbian Friendship.

The holy bishop's liturgy on the island of Vido was served by the Metropolitan of Corfu, Paxon and the Diapontian Islands Mr. Nectarije with the concelebration of the Most Reverend Archimandrite Methodius, abbot of the Hilandar monastery, and priests and deacons from Serbia, Montenegro and Greece.

This is the first bishop's Liturgy that was served near the "Blue Tomb", the place of great suffering of the Serbian army after the Albanian Golgotha 108 years ago.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Nektarios and with the support of the Hilandar Monastery, the Liturgy will be celebrated every year at Vid, where the heroes who died on Corfu after crossing Albania on foot in the First World War rest.

The event was attended by Zlatan Klokić, Minister for European Integration and International Cooperation of Republika Srpska, Janis Teperklis, President of the Ionian Islands Region, Stefanos Pulimenos, Mayor of Central Corfu and Jasmina Milačić, Consul General of Serbia in Thessaloniki.

Guests from Serbia, Republika Srpska and Montenegro, who stayed in Corfu in the previous days, had the opportunity to visit the memorial in Kato Korakiana dedicated to the Iron Regiment, the plot in Analipsi where the entire Military Orchestra of the Moravian Division was buried with instruments and the monument Drina Division in the village of Agios Mateos. A prayer was also held at the memorial plaque in Gouvia, at the place where the Serbian army landed on Corfu in January 1916.

During the event, the people of Corfu had the opportunity to hear a lecture about Serbian cuisine and try our traditional specialties. A rich cultural and artistic program was also held in the village of Ljapades and the city of Corfu, where performers from Serbia and Montenegro performed: the Choir of the Cathedral of Christ's Resurrection in Podgorica "Holy Apostle and Evangelist Marko", the Byzantine Choir that sang hymns from the Panigiras of Hilanda and KUD "Playful round" from Požega.

A basketball tournament was also held in which KK "Panatanaikos" and KK "Kerkira" participated.
