The Life Goal of a Christ Follower

Everything that anyone has ever achieved in life is not their achievement and success. Because, literally everything we have, was given to us at birth as a gift from God. So let us not throw away the precious gift of this life, but use it well, use it for God, and He will give us everything else we need.

No matter what you have discovered, what you have conceived, how much money you have made – it all comes down to the simple fact that God gave you life and the talents you have. The heartbeat that keeps you alive is a gift from God. The intellectual capacity that you have and that you have used to succeed and create so much in life is a gift from God.

How dare any of us say: “Look how successful I am! Look how smart I am!” Stop when you think like that and be very careful with such statements. Remember that everything is from God. Remember that that heartbeat that keeps you alive is not in your power, but is a gift from God, given to you for a certain time and can be taken away from you at any moment.

Here is the warning that God has left us in the Holy Scriptures; “Do not say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth.’ But remember the Lord your God; for it is He who gives you the power to get wealth, that He may confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers…” (Deuteronomy 8:17-18)

We sometimes believe that we are on top of the world, that the power is in our hands, but let us not deceive ourselves, because it is not so. Fear God and respect Him. Remember that God has the final say in every possible area of life. If it seems to you that something is over or that there can be no change due to difficult circumstances, understand that God has the final word.

Remember, in ancient Rome there were 10 attempts by terribly powerful and evil emperors to completely destroy all Christians and Christianity itself. Christians were thrown to hungry wild animals, torn apart in terrible torments, burned alive. Emperor Diocletian was so firmly convinced that he would destroy Christianity and kill all Christians that he produced coins that read; “The Christian faith is destroyed, and the faith of the Roman gods is restored.” We all know what kind of end met polytheistic Rome - the ruins of a powerful empire are a tourist attraction, and the Christian faith survived and is spread throughout the world.

Each of us has an obligation to pass on the teachings of Christ to others, primarily to members of our family and children. “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? How shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher (one who speaks about faith)?” (Romans 10:14)

The purpose of our life on earth is to multiply the glory of God, to learn to serve Him. If you miss the opportunity to glorify God during this life, everything in our life will slowly begin to fall apart, destructive sins and depravity will slowly creep into your life, which will destroy you.

How are you living? Do you long to glorify God with your life or are you only chasing after your own happiness, pleasure and success. If you are completely focused on yourself and your goals, then you are chasing self-destruction. Do not throw away the precious gift of this life, do not waste the precious gift of time. Use them well, use them for God, and He will give you everything you need.

And when the time comes to leave this mortal body, God will say to you, “Come, faithful servant, you are now going home,” and you will be ready for it and will not have any gloomy regrets in your soul, but you will go in joy.
