His Eminence the Archbishop of Cetinje, the Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral, Mr. Joanikije arrived to visit the Eparchy of Mihalovsko-Košice of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia.
The Most Reverend Metropolitan was welcomed by His Eminence the Archbishop of Mihalovsko-Košice Mr. Georgije with his associates.
Metropolitan Joanikije and Bishop Georgije first visited the cathedral church of the Mihalovsko-Košice eparchy - the Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Mihalovac, where they worshiped the relics of the Holy Confessor Dositej, Metropolitan of Zagreb, and Saint Nektarios, the Miracle Worker of Aegina.
Archbishop of Cetinje Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral Mr. Joanikije then visited the site of the future Monastery of St. Basil of Ostrog in the village of Benjatina, where he was awaited by the clergy and faithful people. The construction of this monastery dedicated to St. Basil Ostroh the Miracle Worker was blessed by the beatified Metropolitan Amfilohije. The documentation and necessary permits for the construction of the future monastery are in the final stage, and its construction should begin in the spring, first of all the monastery church dedicated to St. Vasilij Ostroh the Miracle Worker, which will be built on the model of the Lovcan Chapel. The cross on the site of the future temple was previously consecrated by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Raško-Prizren, Mr. Theodosius.
The Metropolitan also visited the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the town of Zemplinska Široka, which is the oldest church in the Eparchy of Mihalovska-Košice, built in the 1930s. Bishop Kirill Mučička of Michalovci is buried in the gate of this temple.
In the town of Markovce His Eminence Archbishop of Cetinje Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral Mr. Joanikije visited the Church of the Succession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the feeding of the Holy Virgin Mary in the town of Markovce.
