We Walk After Christ: Review of Issue 328 of Svetigora
The new issue of Svetigora, the model for faith, culture and education of the Metropolis of Montenegro and the Littoral, the 328th in a row, is new in terms of its content and scope. From now on, Svetigora will be published bimonthly with eighty-four pages. The magazine, as before, gathers valuable experience from various areas of the human spirit - theology, philosophy, history, literature, education, science... and introduces readers to current events in the Metropolis of Montenegro and the Littoral and beyond.
This Lenten issue offers a series of diverse texts with which readers will comfortably and usefully end their anticipation of the most holy holiday - the Resurrection of Christ. The authors of the published texts are, among others, priest Alexei Uminsky (“On Following Christ”), Bishop Callistus Verus of Diocletia (“The Power of the Name”), Georgios Manzaridis (“The Silence and the Word of Saint Gregory Palamas”), Hieromartyr Thaddeus of the Assumption (“Homily on the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos”).
One block of texts concerns the celebration of Savindan. In addition to the report from Tivat, three sermons from St. Sava were published: by Bishop Paisius of Diocletia, MA Živojin Rakočević and Andrija Radulović. Other important current events in the Metropolis of Montenegro and the Littoral are recorded by the Chronicle, and interesting facts from history are recorded by the Archive. Of the events of the local churches, Svetigora singled out the repose of Archbishop Anastasius of Albania as the largest. Chrysostomos Stamoulis writes about the deceased Archbishop in the text “A hug in which there was room for everyone”. Archimandrite Stefan Kalik and Milinko Radulović are also included in the Svetigorjana memorial. Svetigorjana does not forget the deceased members of the Church. On the occasion of the repose of Prof. Dr. Dragoljub Petrović, our famous linguist, an interview conducted with him by Prof. Veselin Matović has been published. Archpriest-staurophorus Prof. Dr. Dragomir Sando recalls Archpriest-staurophorus Prof. Dr. Dimitrij Kalezić, and poet Milica Kralj recalls poet Ranko Jovović.
The poetry section of the new issue was taken up by Aćim Joakim Višnjić with his poem “To the Holy Relics of the Prevlaka Martyrs”. There is also a piece by Svetigora's permanent collaborator, Deacon Pavle Lješković, entitled "Driving", followed by a review of the book "Therapeutic Community 'Land of the Living'" by Blaž R. Božović, written by catechist Đorđe Gojić. Svetigora also writes about this year's awarding of the "Miroslavljevo jevanđelje" award to writer Novica Đurić. Readers will probably also be interested in other texts: Dr. Vasilj Jovović, "Constantine the Great and the Council of Nicaea", MA Smilje Vlaović, "The Cult of St. Basil the Wonderworker and the Monastery of Ostrog in the Records of Foreigners" (II), Dr. Nika S. Martinović "Nemanjić tradition in Podlovćenje Montenegro", Marija Živković "Renewal of St. Sava education in Montenegro", and above all the curiosity of this issue - a lesser-known text by the late Metropolitan Amfilohije "What the people said - the justice of God..."
